This was only fixed with the 10th Doctor. Aaand in The War Machines, the computer asked for "Doctor Who" (thought in my opinion, that computer was just plain idiot). Lastly, the second once called himself "Doktor von Wer", which is German for "Doctor [of] Who." There. I'm geeked out now.

May 21, 2013 - Actually, no they didn't. I've watched a lot of the classic stuff (including a lot of William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton) and he's never been called "Doctor Who". In the first story, An Unearthly Child, Barbara calls the Doctor "Doctor Foreman", as that is the name Susan uses at school. The Doctor responds by saying "Eh? Doctor who?". The title of the show is asking the question that nobody but the Doctor knows the answer to.

May 21, 2013 - First off AMAZINGSecond all of you whovians who get frustrated when they call him " Doctor Who" chill, in the earlier seasons( you know like 1st doctor early, not 9th doctor early) they really did call him Doctor Who in the show, cuz that was technically his name when they started out the show and as the show became more popular and as the years went by the ended up losing the "who" part and just stuck with calling him "Doctor". So technically either way you say it, Doctor or Doctor Who, both
